Two Runners Today (Tuesday June 13th).
Permanent, Yarmouth 4.15 – George Downing
Permanent bids to build on his recent second at Lingfield, the first time he had worn cheek pieces. He just got caught in the final furlong so hopefully the drop back from nine furlongs to a mile will suit.
The race looks open, Patching dropping in grade in a first time visor is a potential threat, and Ocean Temptress probably sets the standard if able to transfer her recent soft ground form to this quicker surface.
Passing Star, Salisbury 5.30 – Raymond Dawson
Passing Star got his first win since joining the yard last time out on his first ever attempt at six furlongs. He needed every yard of the trip to get in front that day, so given that apprentice races are usually strongly run affairs this test should suit. Passing Star has never won on the grass but has shown enough form on it to suggest that at this sort of level he ought to be competitive on the surface. This race is for young apprentice and is a hands and heels race, designed to bring along young jockeys. Raymond is one of the most experienced jockeys in the race and has caught the eye since coming over from Ireland this season. He has a nice draw.
The race is fiercely competitive given the grade with plenty of inform horses in the field. If repeating his last run Bahamian Dollar looks very tough to beat as the form of that has worked out well, that was on a soft surface. Dancecase, Perfect Pastime and One Big Fat surprise are all recent winners capable of adding to their tallies here.
