Thoughts on Fronsac and SilentlyAugust 31, 2018
Two runners this evening at Newcastle. First up is Fronsac in the 6.45 ridden by Luke Morris, who made an encouraging first start at Kempton over a mile, he looked green and learned plenty. He should be better suited by the extra distance he gets this evening and the galloping track ought to suit.
He faces a fairly stiff task taking on three last time out winners including the very well bred Midi and Formula One, however Spanish Archer looked a very useful sort when winning comfortably last time out at Nottingham. It certainly looks a race that will sort the men from the boys.
Silently goes in the last at 8.45 partnered by George Downing, she has been a very tricky to filly to train but has always shown us good speed at home and more than enough ability to win a race of this nature. She is out of a mare who was pretty useful on the track but has had little luck in the breeding shed to date. It is important to develop families like this for breeders and it will help the mares produce record if Silently could get her head in front. She is part of a family that her owners have developed from one mare, Imperial Bailiwick who produced champion sprinter Reverence and other stakes performers, several of her daughters are producers of winners including stakes winners. They are a family capable of producing stakes class two year olds but also horses that continue to progress with age.
The race features plenty of in and out sorts so its hard to make too many solid predictions if on a going day Groundworker probably sets the standard to beat, Sienna Says, Mitchum and Little Kingdom are others that could have a say, whilst Secret Asset may manage one final effort at this level but has been struggling of late.
