Thoughts on Secret Acquisition at Wolverhampton

September 9, 2019

Secret Acquisition makes her debut at Wolverhampton today in the 6.30. Kieran O’Neill rides in the seven furlong fillies maiden. The filly has shown ability in her training and does have an entry in the fillies mile, that is probably a bit ambitious at this stage for her but she should be competitive at this level. She will step up to a mile in due course and next season will really come into her own over a mile and a quarter.

Secret Acquisition is by Sea the Moon who is also the sire of Chitra, winner of five races for the yard. She is out of a Galileo mare, Maria Letizia who has produced a useful winner by Cape Cross who is the grandsire of Sea the Moon. As Sea the Moon is by the Sea the Stars this also means that Secret Acquisition is inbred to the great Urban Sea.

Secret Acquisition’s rivals all have experience. Looks Good is probably the standard setter based on a promising debut, she looked fairly professional and led the field for much of the way and perhaps just got tired towards the end. Um Aljadeela stayed on well late on over six furlongs on her debut in a race that was run in a good time and may have more improvement to offer. Gladice has been steadily improving but probably has to find more again and has three runs under her belt already.

Secret Acquisition is owned by Gary and Lesley Middlebrook. She was bred by Normandie Stud and was purchased at the Tattersalls Book 2 Yearling Sale. A sale that has been a good source of horses for us in the past. For more information on the upcoming yearlings sales click the link below.

Secret Acquisiton will be led up by Andy Williams and overseen by Travelling Manager Shaun Johnson.
