Thoughts on Today’s Runners

Two runners to Chepstow this evening. As Don’t Tell Claire is now a non-runner owing to the soft going in the 5.30.

Don’t Tell Claire winning at Sandown earlier this month

Saigon Suzi runs in the 6.00. The filly is partnered with Adam McNamara for the seven furlong Maiden Stakes and the pair are drawn in stall 1. Saigon Suzi is still developing as a racehorse and will be more competitive once she gets into handicap company. It will be interesting to see how she gets on with softer ground.

Jumaira Bay sets a very high standard for a maiden at this time of year and it will take a useful horse to beat him. Boma Green has his first run for more then a year and has switched trainer. He showed potential on his debut as a two year old.

Saigon Suzi is by Sir Percy, out of the Dalakhani mare, Cio Cio San. The filly was bred and is owned by Vivienne O’Sullivan. She will be led up today by Alice Roberts.

The second runner of the day is Zephyrina in the 7.00. Adam McNamara is in the irons once again for the mile fillies’ handicap. Zephyrina has been drawn in stall 11. Zephyrina put up a rather lacklustre display last time after showing promise on her seasonal return. She has very good course form, she was second here over this trip before dropping back to win over seven furlongs. We have been waiting for some ease in the ground and hopefully she puts her recent run behind her and gets her career back on track.

A slightly tricky race to make too many strong conclusions about. Pretty Pickle was only just touched off on her second start. Her mark looks fair and she may well improve again which might be enough here. Most of her rivals have been running solidly without looking to have much in hand.

Zephyrina is by Big Bad Bob, out of the Barathea mare, Western Sky. She will be led up by Lauren Webb. Zephyrina races for Patrick Whitten. She was purchased at the Tattersalls September Yearling Sales by Daniel and Claire.
