Views on Multi Fours at Kempton tomorrow (hoping it doesn’t get abandoned)January 22, 2013
The team have been working really hard the last few days keeping the show on the road. The gallops have been useable so we’ve been able to keep the horses ticking over.
Multi Fours makes her handicap debut in 18.30 at Kempton tomorrow (Wednesday 23rd of January). She will be partnered by Martin Dwyer who has ridden on her two previous occasions in her first attempt at a mile. She progressed at a modest level with each start last year and her final start over six furlongs had some promise – she finished nicely that day after missing the break a beat. She has settled down in her homework. A short break after that last run did her the world of good mentally. She has improved in her work since returning showing a more focused attitude. She is still a touch green and we expect she will progress again from tomorrows start. It looks as if she will be racing on standard to slow polytrack which is a cause for concern as she has a good action that suggests that she would prefer a quick surface.
The race itself features only a couple of horses who have won in the past so isn’t the most difficult contest in the world. Taxiformissbyron won over course and distance on her last start and sets the standard. Mystery Woman like Multi Fours ventures into handicaps for the first time and ought to build on a couple of placed efforts in maidens. Poetic Verse hasn’t been in the best of form recently but did run well at Southwell in the summer so the deeper surface may be to her liking and this is weaker than the races she has contested recently – so a bounce back to form wouldn’t be a surprise.
