Thoughts on Mont Signal and Norse Legend tomorrowApril 27, 2014
Two runners tomorrow.
Mont Signal starts the day at Wolverhampton in the 1.50. Luke Morris takes the ride in the 7 furlong handicap. Mont Signal was a convincing course and distance winner last month, returning after a lengthy absence. He can be excused a disappointing effort a few days later at Southwell when he didn’t really enjoy the surface and probably reappeared too soon. He has been going nicely at home and although this is a bit stronger than the race he won he ought to give another good account.
The race looks to revolve around Global Leader who was a convincing course and distance winner last week and reappears with a penalty. If he shows up in similar form tomorrow it will be hard for anything to beat him.
Norse Legend makes his handicap debut in the 4.30 at Bath. Richard Kingscote take the ride in the mile and a half handicap. Norse Legend has been gelded since his last run and has developed over the winter. He has had a couple of niggles in his preparation and will come on for this run. The step up in trip should suit him as should the soft surface.
With half the runners making their debuts in handicap company and most stepping up in trip this is a wide open contest and its a guessing game as to which horse is open to the most improvement. Bold Runner has shown he is capable at this level with a second on his handicap debut stepped up in distance last time. Enquiring is the only winner in the field and a duel winner at that, however he wasn’t so good last time out and needs to bounce back.
