Thoughts on Bailiwick at RedcarMarch 27, 2016
Bailiwick has a bank holiday outing to the seaside tomorrow afternooon (Monday, March 28th). Dougie Costello has now replaced Richard Kingscote in the seven furlong seller. It will be Bailwick’s first attempt on the turf so its a new challenge. There is a slight question mark about the soft, heavy in places going, but his illustrious half brother Reverence certainly revelled in the mud so it may even be a positive. Bailiwick has been pretty consistent in handicaps all winter on the all weather, never very far away with several good placed efforts and deserves to win a race. The drop to the seller should in theory be in his favour as nothing in the race is unexposed.
Quite a few of Bailiwicks rival tomorrow have a similar line profile – not being too far away in handicaps without quite being able to get their heads in front recently. This should make for a competitive race, Basingstoke, Sea of Uncertainty and New Lease of Life fall into this category whilst Atreus actually won his last start but has been off for a while but if returning in similar form will play a part.
