Winner – Jack BlaneMarch 26, 2017
Jack Blane won the 6.45 at Wolverhampton yesterday (Saturday 25th of March). George Downing was seen to good effect in the seven furlong handicap keeping the son of Kheleyf up to his work all the way to the line, ensuring he saw off the late challenge of Tink. Having travelled strongly, even freely in the early part of the race, Jack Blane was probably in front for long enough and it took strength in the saddle to keep him focused on the job all the way to the line.
It was Jack’s first win on his first attempt in handicap company and a real pleasure for owner and breeder Pat Whitten and his family who also raced his mother Blane Water. Jack was the last foal she produced, so there was plenty of sentiment for all. Blane Water has now produced four winners including Buzamezo who was champion sprinter in Hungary. Trinity River was a two year old five furlong winner for the yard as well. Jack relished the step up in trip and should be able to pick up more races, he showed great willing to hang on bravely. Mentally he will learn to settle better in his races and physically he will continue to develop. He does hold an entry at Chelmsford next Thursday an engagement that he may well take up depending on the decision of the handicapper on Tuesday morning.
