Thoughts on FronsacJune 26, 2019
Fronsac makes his return to action in the 7.50 at Kempton this evening. The four year old gelding will be ridden by Robert Winston who is in flying form at present in the one mile handicap. Fronsac is a horse with talent, he has to date got himself a little worked up at the races and not displayed his ability fully on the track. Hopefully the gelding operation will have made a difference. He has been on several trips to the races as we bid to develop his confidence. Fronsac is drawn wide, which always requires a little luck in running but is not an insurmountable obstacle at the track over this distance.
The race looks a competitive heat, with a full field and not much to separate them. Plenty of these have proven capable in lower grade races and have managed solid runs at this level, it looks a race to where a lightly raced horse who showed progression should be able to get involved, Let Rip looks the most likely candidate to meet that criteria. Ariagato has won at this level and was not disgraced in a decent handicap at the Derby Meeting and is a big danger dropping back to this grade.
Yard Manager Lauren Webb who rides Fronsac everyday will lead up Fronsac assisted by travelling manager Shaun Johnson. He races for Gary and Lesley Middlebrook who also bred him at Wood Farm Stud where he was raised by their team.
