Fireback set alight…
A bit of a come down yesterday at Lingfield after a dissapointing run from Whitechapel. He travelled well early on if slightly keenly but seemed to struggle a bit with the drop down the hill at and never quickened at the end of the race. He is a tricky horse to place as he seems to want a galloping level track and seems to be handicapped to his ability, it may be that we lower his sights towards a seller or claimer.
We worked Fireback for the first time, he went up the stiff bank gallop at Whitsbury, he looked a little rusty to begin with but eventually picked up and he should have got plenty out of it. Cobbs Quay again worked nicely, stretching out over an extended mile this morning and is looking really well in himself and should see a racecourse before the end of the month, his action (and pedigree) suggest that cut in the ground will be important to him so a rain dance will be required. The quality of the turf was really demonstrated as despite the lack of rain the ground still rides pretty well.
Alezanna pictured below is an unraced three year old filly by Halling that is starting to come together nicely and beginning to blossom in the spring sunshine, she is couple of weeks from stepping up to faster work.
