Mutineer Wins

Mutineer ran out a ready winner of the 6.05 at Kempton last night under Harry Bentley. Mutineer jumped well from the stalls and was always travelling comfortably tucked in behind the front runner, he took it up in the straight and finished the race strongly to record his first victory. A very good looking horse he has taken a time to settle into racing, he possesses an impatient attitude that has seen him loose races before they have begun in the past but has finally learned that there is no need to get quite so wound up and can now hopefully progress. Lauren Webb deserves a special mention as she has done a lot of work with Mutineer at home, riding him out nearly every day and has got him more settled about his daily routine. Although Harry Bentley was on board last night and did an excellent job it would be remiss not to mention George Downing who has educated him in his recent races and helped him to learn to be a little more relaxed in the preliminaries and in the race itself.

He holds an engagement at Wolverhampton on Friday and although its a very tight turn around as long as all appears well we will give it a go as he will probably be raised about the same as his penalty and therefore have to run in tougher races in future. Edward Greatrex will take off 3lbs of weight to counter the 6lb penalty.

Mutineer races for a partnership of Ontoawinner and Capture the Moment who have been patient with the horse and now look set for some fun days in the coming weeks as he should be able to continue to improve and may even be able to stay another couple of furlongs going forward. He was purchased as yearling from Coneen Stud at the Tattersall October Sales and on a statistical note means that every colt we have purchased from the yearling sales has won.
