Spin Again denied looking to the future.
Spin Again was cruelly denied a chance to add to his tally for us last night after suffering interference in running at Kempton. He looked like he had every chance when Mickael Barzalona, was forced to snatch up and lost all momentum only to run on strongly as the errant Riflessione hung right across him. It is not the first time this horse has displayed these tendencies, one wonders if such horses should be allowed to continue racing if they are impossible to keep on a straight line as Riflessione’s jockey claimed. Spin Again was lucky to escape with only a bad bruise to his right hind which will take a bit of ice and hosing to clear up, and shouldn’t affect him too much, it could have been far more serious for both horses and their riders. The jockey’s defence that he can only run right handed track is interesting as he is entered today at left handed Lingfield in a seller.
More importantly though we ought to focus on the positives which are that the horse is clearly competitive in this grade off his current handicap mark and he should win off this mark. It also showed he is more than capable at six furlongs which means there are more options for him as so far he has run at seven for us. He takes his racing incredibly well and looks great this morning have lost just 3.5kgs, typically one expects a horse to lose around 8-10kgs for a run. There are several options for him, if the sunshine sticks around a six furlong race at Salisbury next Thursday could be very interesting as his handicap mark is 7lbs lower on the turf.
Spin Again working last week.
