Thoughts on Av A Word at Bath
Av A Word bids to follow up his win last week at Brighton at Bath this evening in the 9.00 (Wednesday, July 5th). George Downing rides in the mile and three furlong handicap. Av A Word has progressed steadily with racing and although his two wins have come at a mile and quarter he has run just as well in defeat at slightly longer distances. He seems fairly versatile regards ground but hasn’t encountered anything near as quick as what he will race on this evening so that is a slight unknown. The form of his win last week when the runner up went in just a couple of days later and the horse is well at home.
The race has a bit more depth than the more recent contests that Av A Word has been involved in and features a couple of recent course winners, Grams and Ounces is seeking an hat trick and the old boy is in fine fettle at the minute. Hallingham is another danger, whilst Plato’s Kode has been getting closer with each start.
