Thoughts on Covenant at Newcastle

Covenant runs in the 4.10 at Newcastle this afternoon. Tony Hamilton partners up with the gelding in the ten furlong maiden. Covenant was a bit keen over one mile five in a small field at Newmarket last time and this drop back should help on that front. That run was after a little absence from the track so it may also have just been freshness. He has been well at home and if settling properly should have a good chance if reproducing his run at Goodwood the time before.

The main dangers amongst the opposition look to be those that are making their debuts such as Judith Gardenier, Swashbuckling, Sinndaraction or the once raced Tartoor who will have learned plenty that day and comes from a family that generally improve over further than the mile he ran over that day.
