Thoughts on La Donacella

LA Donacella returns to action today for her second career start in the 7.20 at Goodwood this evening (Friday 19th of June). Steve Drowne rides in the nine furlong fillies maiden. The filly did not enjoy the very fast ground on her debut at Ascot last year in a race in which the juvenile track record was smashed and came out of the race with a few niggles that kept her out of action for the rest of last season. Given that she is from a later developing family in any case this has probably been to her benefit. La Donacella has has always shown a bit of pace in her work with a pedigree and physique that suggest staying at least a mile and half shouldn’t be a problem, which bodes well for her future and we hope reward her owners patience. She was quite green on debut and she should have learned plenty, although that was a long time ago hopefully she hasn’t forgotten too much!

The standard for this race is set by Libbard and Bella Nouf who have both run twice and shown a good level of form, anything else will have to show good improvement to get close to them.
