Thoughts on Mandria at Kempton today

Mandria heads to Kempton in the 5.25 today (Monday 17th of August). Timmy Murphy who has come and ridden her out at home to get to know her takes the ride in the seven furlong handicap. Mandria has always shown a fair bit of ability but is hard on herself in races, as some fillies can be. She’s not really shown that ability on the course yet and we’ve reached for the hood to try and keep her more relaxed. If she does get it right she’d be more than capable of winning a similar contest.

The race is quite open, Culloden probably has the most solid recent form with a third at Windsor last week. My Mo hasn’t been on song of late but that has been on turf and much his best form in his career to date has been on the all weather so he could be a lot more competitive today. Tap Shoes is an interesting contender on handicap debut, she probably paid for sitting to close to a smart rival last time and is better than that based on her second the time before.
