Thoughts on Medrano
Medrano heads back to Kempton this evening for the 8.10. Tom Queally rides the gelding in the mile and three furlong handicap. Medrano showed much more of his old self last time out at the track and with a distinct shortage of his favoured softer going it made sense to come back here. He has a slightly tricky draw to overcome as the first bend does come up fairly quickly out the gates and as result a wide draw can result in a wide trip for parts of the race.
The race itself is a very competitive looking affair, Karawaan comes out of race from where he had two subsequent winners behind him and his trainer has his string in fine form, however on his first start this season he finished behind a horse that Medrano beat comfortably last time out. Dawn Choir is an unknown quantity in this sphere having his first run on the surface for a new trainer. He is lightly raced and potentially open to more improvement than most of the field.
