Thoughts on Mutineer at Chelmsford this evening
Mutineer runs in the 8.45 at Chelmsford this evening (Thursday 28th of September). George Downing rides in the ten furlong handicap. Mutineer had a very busy but on the whole productive spell in August and probably found his final race at Salisbury a case of one too many close together in his bid for a hat trick. We gave him a bit of a freshen up and having been aiming at this race ever since then. The step up in trip ought to be a plus, both of Mutineer’s best half brothers and sister put up there best form at distances further than a mile and the jockeys who won on him in August felt that stepping up in trip would be no barrier to further success.
The race is competitive and there are two last time out winners that both pose a threat, Ourmullion won a higher grade race than this one over course and distance last time out and is the horse that everyone has to beat if repeating that form. Ourmullion doesn’t have the best of draws but if able to overcome that anything else is probably going to have improve on what they have shown to date. Miss Mirabeau has less impressive form to date but is from a family that tend to stay very well and despite being by Oasis Dream she should leave her previous from behind on this first attempt at further. The excellent form of the trainer’s horses in the last few days and the addition of headgear also point to a step forward for Miss Mirabeau.
