Thoughts on Nyala at Salisbury
Nyala has her first trip to the races this afternoon at Salisbury for the 3.20. George Downing will ride in the seven furlong maiden. Nyala is very much a filly for next season so today is really about giving her a bit of experience with a view to the future. She will probably come into her own over middle distance trips. Nyala is the type of horse who has made steady if unspectacular progress through her training and normally needs a couple of goes at something to get the hang of it. Salisbury is a lovely course to give a horse a their first run at as the preliminaries are fairly simple and the track itself has a gently rise to it with the odd undulation that teaches horses to think about where they are putting their feet when galloping.
Clairette sets a decent standard for the rest to aim for whilst Final Set and Goodnight Girl both ran nicely on debut and should step forward, of the ten runner field six of the remainder are debutantes plenty with nice pedigrees. Its very much a race to watch with an eye on the future.
Nyala between horses.
