Thoughts on Piccadillo at Leicester

Piccadillo runs in the 5.30 at Leicester tomorrow. Thomas Brown rides in the six furlong nursery handicap. Piccadillo has run well in her last two starts in two decent looking maidens, finishing fourth at Windsor in race that has thrown up several subsequent winners and then in a strong looking contest at Glorious Goodwood. She didn’t quite match her form at Goodwood but didn’t seem entirely at ease on the track and came out a little jarred up on the quick ground. Although initially downhill at Leicester she should handle the track as its nothing like as challenging as Goodwood. She worked nicely last week and should give a good account of herself.

With several of her rival entering nursery company for the first time its a little difficult to know exactly what sort of an assignment we have set Piccadillo. First Class Mail ran respectably in maidens – particularly first time out and now sports blinkers for the first time so if they bring about some extra improvement he is one to watch. In a similar vein Clampdown steps up a furlong and sports cheekpieces for the first time. White Vin Jan won on her last start and looks to be improving with racing and looks the best of the horses with form in nurseries by some way.
