Thoughts on Trimoulet
Trimoulet heads to Wolverhampton this evening for the 8.40 (Saturday 19th of September). Tom Queally takes the ride in the two mile handicap. Trimoulet has won twice at the course already this year and tackles this longer distance for the first time. A big long striding horse he looks the type physically to get this kind of distance and if he does could be a pretty useful stayer. He is entered in the Cesarewitch and would have to win tonight to stand a chance of getting into the race. He had a half brother by Sadler Wells (the grandsire of Teofilo, Trimoulet’s sire) who ran well in the Cesarewitch so there is every reason to believe this sort of trip is within his compass.
Gang Warfare has been progressive stepping up in trip and looks the main danger as he tackles this better company for the first time. Fellow Cesarewtich entry Deauville Dancer needs to find his form of last year to get competitive but if doing so will be a danger. Longshadow sets a useful standard for races of this nature at this grade and has been in good form recently.
