Thoughts on Percy’s Lad
Percy’s Lad lines up for his first start for us at Yarmouth today in the 3.48 (Tuesday 26th April). Richard Kingscote takes the ride in the mile handicap. Percy’s Lad showed loads of ability as a two year old but lost his way last year. He was picked up at the horses in training sale in the Autumn and we have been getting to know him over the past few months. We have been pleased with how he has trained but it is never until they go and do it on the track that you quite know with in this scenario.
Quite an intriguing race, despite the small field. Bake looked a progressive sort last season and hasn’t had many runs. His only poor effort at the end of the season is easily explained on account of the soft ground. Goddess of Fire is bold front running filly looking to back up her recent course and distance win. Star Shield is a proven consistent tough campaigner at this level and his suggest the first two will have to put up career bests to win.
Percy’s Lad will be running in the colours of owner Alan Kerr. He will be led up by Sammy Barnett. Epona Miller cares for him daily at home and Alex Swinswood rides him. He will be overseen on the day by travelling manager Shaun Johnson.
