A flurry of new arrivals
There are a few new faces in the yard. There has been a flurry of new arrrivals in the last few days to bolster the team of horses to race in the coming months. The great thing is they’ve come from a variety of sources and different types of owners.
It’s always lovely to get sent horses from owner breeders and it was very kind of Roger Charlton to recommend that Sandy Hames sent Nuncio a home bred Authorized gelding in our direction. He is a lightly raced three year old who went very close on his handicap debut at Lingfield over a mile, just beaten by Vatican Hill who followed up with another win. Further back was Elementary who went on to win his next start so the form is working out. We look forward to getting to know him and hope he can win one or two in the coming months.
Sticking with owner breeders Sunday evening saw a cracking colt by Frankel out of Riberac arrive from Gary and Lesley Middlebrook’s Wood Farm Stud. This is a family we know well. Trimoulet who is very closely related to this chap (by Teofilo who like Frankel is by Galileo out of a Danehill mare) won four races for us is a half brother. Intrigue is also a half sister to this colt. Intrigue didn’t win under the care of William Haggas and it’s a credit to the team working here that they managed to work her out to get that all important win on the board. We are really excited to have this chap from day one of his racing career and it’s a massive opportunity to be able train such a well bred horse. Riberac was a multiple stakes winning mare and has bred nine winners from nine runners and including the smart Dordogne. Her four year old Nimr (by Sharmadal) who was bought as a yearling by Al Shaqab racing won again on Monday afternoon and looks a horse worth follwing in the coming weeks.
We have also been active at the recent horses in training and added a couple of smart older horses. Passing Star looks a real bargain picked up for £4,000 at Goffs in Doncaster he was rated as high as 105 and is now down to 79 a mark he should give new owner Alan Bell plenty of fun from placed in the correct races
At Tattersalls in Newmarket we were able to purchase Jailawi who is rated 96 and ran very well in a couple of big heritage handicaps last summer and looks like a horse that can give us a bit of representation at some of the bigger meetings. Leading syndicate Ontoawinner think so to and have bought an interest in him alongside long standing supporter JP Lim who has been with us since day one of our training venture.
