Analysis of Today’s Runners

Chitra is the first of two runners today (Tuesday 3rd of September). She heads to Goodwood for the 5.00 at six furlong handicap. She will partnered together with David Egan for the first time. The filly steps back up to six furlongs a distance she has already been successful over four times. Her last run is best ignored as she hit her head on the gates when anticipating the start and was never really at the races thereafter and was eased. She was a bit sore for a few days afterwards and was given a bit of time to freshen up. She is back to her usual enthusiastic self and should run her usual game race.

Chitra faces just four rivals and a case could be made for all of them. Rose Hip has been progressive since entering handicap company and is three from three under Tom Marquand and looks the horse to beat. Sweet Pursuit has plenty of form at this level and looked back near her best last time out.

Chitra will be led up by James Pulley, she races for owner breeders Gary and Lesley Middlebrook.

Fronsac goes to Kempton for the 6.45. Liam Keniry is aboard for the one mile handicap. The enigmatic gelding is gradually improving his behaviour in the preliminaries. His ability has never been in doubt based on analysis of his homework, it does need to start to translate to the racecourse. He drops in grade here and ran well over a mile last season in novice races. The draw isn’t the easiest out in ten and tactics are likely to play a part in the final result.

High Falutin comes into the race after a course and distance win when dropping back in trip to a mile for the first time and looks the most obvious danger in the field. Chloellie has been running well in some slightly stronger races than this over seven furlongs and may find a bit extra for a mile. Bollihope has also run creditably in a slightly higher grade on his last two starts and that may well be enough in this contest.

Fronsac will be led up by Lauren Webb who rides him every day at home. He races for owner breeders Gary and Lesley Middlebrook.
