Av A Word Wins Again

Silvestre de Sousa left it very late and had us all concerned but came with a spectacular late flourish to get Av A Word up to win at Epsom. It was the gelding’s fourth win of the year and he really looks to be improving with every run at the moment. All being well he will attempt a hat trick at Brighton on the 11th of September.

It was his third win in four starts and his homework is improving all the time. It’s great to have another winner for Peter Onslow and Ann Harrison who bred the horse and race it with their friend Kevin Nash.

Having relayed that he had me slightly concerned at one point in the race to Silvestre, his wonderful response was that “you told me not to get there too soon”.

Silvestre works very hard and always gives his all and deserves every success. He is riding spectacularly well at the moment, confidence and timing are so tied together in a jockeys armoury and it’s incredible to watch a confident jockey like Silvestre when it all clicks.
