Brief thoughts on our three runners on Saturday

Av A Word

Chepstow 1.40

A very green debutant that seemed to learn a lot from his first outing when running well in defeat next time out at Chelmsford. Robert Havlin takes over the steering from Paddy Pilley and we expect that Av A Word will be a little more educated and ready to run his race this time out. A race that seemingly could throw a couple of winners down the line, Av A Word looks to have a race on his hands as the Mark Johnston trained Kiribati looked a progressive horse upped to six furlongs last time out and beaten half a length into third.

Ducissa and Zippy

Bath 5.30

In the 5.30 at Bath we have two runners in Ducissa and Zippy. Ducissa wouldn’t want the ground to go too soft and ran an encouraging race second time out when beaten just over three lengths by a horse of that had a race in hand and a little more experience than our filly. Zippy also runs in the race and after an encouraging start to her career last season as a two year old, was then well beaten last time out at Goodwood, She has had a little time to recover and should be fresh and well ready for the race. The race looks a trappy contest with most of those with form only having shown a limited level. Minminwin in fairness has looked an improved horse on softer going recently and probably is the one to beat. She’s certainly better than her mark of 50 would suggest and blinkers have perked up Arcanista a bit.
