Disko out to Empress tomorrow

Disko runs in the Listed Empress Stakes at Newmarket tomorrow (2.20, 29th of June). James McDonald takes the ride in the six furlong race for two year old fillies. The race represents a huge step up in class for Disko and she will go to post and an outsider. She has however done very little wrong in her three starts to date and won comfortably last time. She has always looked as if a sixth furlong will be no problem for her and if she stays well her turn of foot should be useful. She has improved in each start and if she can continue to do so should hold her own. It will be a fun day and a real bonus if she can pick up some black type which will make her a valuable broodmare in time for finishing in the first three.

The race looks a wide open affair feature a mix of fillies such as Hoku already proven at this level, a few who finished down the field at Royal Ascot – most notably Fig Roll and others who have won maidens impressively such as Majeyda and Sunny Harbour. The winner will certainly be a nice filly.
