Fireback in action Saturday at Lingfield
Fireback will have to put two lacklustre performances behind him and behave better in the preliminaries in the 8.15 at Lingfield on Saturday night. He will be ridden by Mickael Barzalona in the one mile claiming race. He has always been somewhat difficult going down to post and we are hoping a different approach will help him. He also needs to get out of an annoying habit of missing the break, we have plan but how well it works will only be put to the test on Saturday night. He will be sporting blinkers as Fergus Sweeney felt he was not really giving him everything in his last start at Chester. The aim is to get him to enjoy a race rather than be pushed too hard as he has been in the competitive handicaps he has been running in and hopefully pick up the winning thread. Having finished 9th in the Britannia as three year old, he should be up to getting the trip in this company. The race has a real mixed bag of contenders in it and it would be hard to have much confidence in any of them. Munsarim, has plenty of ability and has won this sort of race recently and ought to be favourite here. Fremont is another who if capturing some of his best form would be interesting in his second start for a new stable. Sandbetweenourtoes is probably the best of the three year olds and it is his first attempt at the trip.
