Mont Signal at Lingfield in Blinkers

Mont Signal heads to Lingfield tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday 18th December) to run in the 12.50. He will be ridden by Richard Kingscote in the six furlong nursery. Mont Signal will be making his fourth racecourse appearance in this nursery. He has progressed slightly with each start thus far and has done well since his last race. He will wear blinkers for the first time to sharpen him up and focus him fully on the job in hand after working nicely in them last week. It will be disappointing if he doesn’t show the improvement to go close in this contest. The sharp six furlongs at Lingfield would be a slight concern for him as he may want further in time.

The race is not the hottest contest ever staged and looks quite open, a case can be made for several if they repeat their best runs. There is little reason to expect any of them to improve hugely from what they have already shown. The biggest threats  look to be Prince of Prophets who has to overcome a very wide draw and Frans Hals who ran well in a better race last time out. It might also be worth paying attention to Kalahari Breeze who returns to action after a lay off.
