Spin Again Declared Tuesday at Kempton

Spin Again will make his debut for us on Tuesday in the 5.40 at Kempton over seven furlongs. Richard Kingscote rides, bringing together an old Beckhampton combination as the owner’s son, John, Richard and Daniel all worked for Roger Charlton there at the same time. Spin Again has only been with us for a couple of weeks so its hard to know exactly where he is fitness wise, but he ran regularly over the winter for his previous trainer and has only been away from the course for 40 days, so shouldn’t be too far from full fitness. He completed an easy workout comfortably the other day and it seems worth taking a chance here rather than working again at home. He seems best suited to the all weather and with the turf season looming it makes sense to have a couple of runs whilst there are still plenty of opportunities for him. He looks to be reasonably handicapped and drops to the lowest level of race he has run in for sometime, on the flip side he comes up against several in form horses notably Diplomatic who remarkably for a seven year old seems to be on the upgrade, Lady Mango is a threat and although the distance may stretch her she did need every yard of six furlongs to win last time out. Ereka and Do More Business also seem to be in good form albeit in slightly easier races recently.

Autocracy came out of his race fine on Thursday and whilst it was a little disappointing to only finish fifth after travelling wide throughout from a wide draw it was his first run for a long time and he should come on for it. The winner Lizzie’s Dream looks like a horse to follow at a low level for a while having won in quite taking style for the second time in a row.

There is a video on Cobbs Quay’s page of his first work on the turf from Saturday morning, he has done well over the winter and seems to have really taken to Whitsbury and it’s peaceful surroundings.

Below is a video of Spin Again having a gentle canter the other morning, with Victor Santos riding.
