Thoughts on Al Rufaa
Al Rufaa heads to Sandown Park for their evening meeting on Thursday 23rd May in the 8.42pm. Richard Kingscote will be having his first ride on board this gelding in the 1 mile handicap.
Al Rufaa is a frustrating character in that he wants to go faster than he really needs to. If he does learn to relax he would be a very talented horse. We come back to a mile in the hope that a strongly run race will see him showing his full ability.
Crack Shot looks the obvious starting point here. He is lightly raced and showed progressive form as a three year old. The gelding took it to another level when winning a big field contest at Newbury on Guineas weekend. He looks the one to beat here. Classic has won at the track and went down by half a length to Classic when seen last seen in August 2023.
Al Rufaa runs for Carter, Lofthouse and Capture the Moment. He will be led up by Jan Kasecky who cares for him at home. He will be overseen by his regular rider, travelling manager Shaun Johnson. Al Rufaa was purchased a horse in training for just £24,000 by Daniel & Claire. He has already won and been placed twice and looks like he will be appearing at a few more of these good meetings this summer. We are currently taking orders for upcoming horses in training sales in July.
