Thoughts on Amor Invicto

Amor Invicto seeks his first victory in the 17.50 at Wolverhampton this evening. George Downing rides the gelding in the extended nine furlong apprentice handicap. Its the first time that the horse will try over this far but on pedigree and the way he ran last time out the extra furlong should help him out. George is one of the best riders in the race but has a tricky stall to negotiate out in ten. It is a bit frustrating as he clearly has the ability to win a race and heads to the sales next week so we could have done with a bit of luck.

Amor faces three horses who just pipped him in his most recent start a fortnight ago, it will be interesting to see which horse is most suited by the extra furlong tonight. Dove Mountain came with a late run to finish second that night, just swallowing up Amor Invicto who had duelled unsuccessfully in the stretch with the winner Sir Lancelott. With just three quarters of a length separating five horses that night there is unlikely to be much in it again this evening between those. Siouxperhero looks the biggest danger of the rest if able to bounce back to the form of recent win but that was over a furlong less and this may be too far.
