Thoughts on Arishka

Arishka heads to Wolverhampton to make her nursery debut in the 5:10 this evening. Tom Queally takes the ride in the five furlong nursery. The filly makes her all weather debut and its something we’ve been to try for a while, she hasn’t quite delivered on the potential she has shown us at home but its early days for her yet. She sports cheek pieces for the first time just to keep her focused on the job in hand. She showed some of her ability on her first two starts but didn’t see out the six furlongs at Newbury on her third start and probably did a bit too much early on before getting lost out in the middle of the track away from the main action.

Whilst the old racing cliche states you should never be afraid of one horse it does look a tough ask to beat Implicit who won her nursery debut after a string of placed efforts in novice races. The form of that race has worked out well and her only chink is that she hung to the right that day, something that wouldn’t be ideal around the sharp left handed bend at Wolverhampton. The rest of the field are pretty unexposed and are all still open to improvement. Requited has shown enough pace to suggest the drop back to five won’t be a problem, and put up his best performance so far on the all weather at Kempton. Not So Shy is another who has some solid efforts to her name and her last performance can be forgiven, she probably did a bit too much in front and was given an easy time once her chance had gone.
