Thoughts on Astro King
Requiring very little introduction, yard star Astro King is back on British turf as he lines up in the 3.00pm at Newmarket on Wednesday 17th April. Richard Kingscote takes the ride in the 1 mile 1 furlong Group 3 Earl of Sefton Stakes.
Astro King who won the Cambridgeshire over course and distance proved competitive at Group 2 level in valuable contest in the middle east over the winter. The more the ground dries the better it will be for him today. Although the times were pretty good at Newmarket yesterday they were heavily assisted by a strong tail wind. The going stick this morning has improved to 7.5, it was 7.9 when he won the Cambridgeshire.
This looks a very closely matched contest, Ottoman Fleet won it last year and showed good form in Dubai, until disappointing on his most recent start. Embesto has a progressive profile, whilst Royal Rhyme looks the class horse of the field, his preference to date has been softer surfaces.
Astro King runs for syndicate owners Capture The Moment, Carter & Lofthouse and will be led up today by Jan Kasecky who cares for him at home.
