Thoughts on Astro King – Thursday

Astro King makes his debut for the stable today (Thursday 18th May) at York. He lines up at 3.00pm with Richard Kingscote taking the ride.

Astro King has some smart back form and has been gelded over the winter. If he can recapture something near his previous best he will be an exciting horse. He has done a decent amount of work and we have been waiting for his preferred faster surface for some time.

A fiercely competitive handicap as one would expect. Strong course form from Cruyff Turn, Blue For You means they warrant respect. Thirsk Hunt Cup winner Northern Express showed improved form stepped up to a mile for the first time and has to enter consideration. Lightly raced four year old Assessment is open to further progression and is another who poses a threat if continuing to improve.
