Thoughts on Autocracy’s chances at Brighton, review of Whitechapel’s run

Autocracy runs in the 5.15 at Brighton tomorrow evening (Tuesday 21st of August). Fergus Sweeney takes the ride in the five furlong handicap. Autocracy failed to handle the loose, rain softened ground at Bath last time out and if he can run to a similar level to his previous starts will have a real chance in this race. There are only seven runners but everyone of them will have a chance. It looks like there will be a strong pace which should suit Autocracy. Scommettitrice still looks well handicapped in the context of this race and is the horse to beat, having won four in a row before finding better company a stretch too far. Imaginary Diva recently just beat Funcheon Vale over course and distance, stepping up slightly on recent form which saw him behind Autocracy on a couple of occasions. While Maltease Ah looked improved for a new stable on his first start for them. It certainly will be a tight contest.

Nothing went right for Whitechapel at Wolverhampton, he missed the break and ended up running very keen in a slowly run race that saw him trapped at the back. He also pulled of a front shoe which did him no favours and he was sore on it afterwards. A very frustrating experience but that’s how racing goes sometimes. Let’s hope for better luck tomorrow!
