Thoughts on Av A Word this evening at Newcastle

Av A Word runs in the 5.45 at Newcastle this evening (Friday 29th of September). Tony Hamilton is in the saddle for the mile and a half handicap as the gelding looks for his fifth win of the year. He has progressed all season and was placed over this distance a couple of times earlier in the year when looking like he didn’t quite get home, he is now though a much stronger and improved horse and both Silvestre De Sousa and Luke Morris thought he would now find further improvement going this distance. He’s really well in himself at home so whilst he will have to turn in a career best effort we are hopeful the long journey prove worthwhile.

The best individual piece of form on display is Pioneertown’s second on the all weather at Kempton over a furlong shorter, Sir Gnet also has some good placed efforts however, however, both have yet to win a race and some of these horses may not quite have that level of talent but they know how to get the job done. La Vie En Rose is solid and Astute Boy has been steadily progressing and should be competitive in what is a very open looking race.
