Thoughts on Barossa Red
Barossa Red makes his stable debut this afternoon at Redcar. The four year old gelding runs in the 4.35 with Jack Mitchell taking the ride and they are drawn in stall 8. The soft conditions look ideal and we will learn more about the horse today.
This looks a competitive wide open Saturday afternoon handicap and the ability to handle soft conditions and a big field will be key here. Cassy O comes here in good form and having won his last two and handles conditions, however this is a little step up in grade. Archaeology has been consistent in similar races and is another who conditions should suit. Al Erayg dropping in grade is a danger. By far Hot Summer’s best run came on soft ground and is more lightly raced then most. John Locke is unexposed having had just four runs over further and that stamina may be helpful here. So Beloved is a veteran and has been dropping in class for a while and but may well still enough in him to to be competitive here.
Barossa Red is by Tamayuz, out of the Danehill Dancer mare, I Hearyou Knocking. He will be led up today by Ilse Belien and overseen by Shaun Johnson. Barossa Red races for Alan Kerr and he was purchased at the Tattersalls August horses in training sale in conjunction with Sam Haggas of Hurworth Bloodstock. Daniel and Claire will be going to the Tattersalls Book 1-4 yearling sales in the next fortnight and the Autumn Horses in Training Sale at the end of October.
