Thoughts on Belletti
Belletti makes her debut this afternoon (Wednesday 3rd March) in the 4.25 at Lingfield Park. Alistair Rawlinson takes the reins for the seven furlong Median Auction Maiden Stakes, and the pair are drawn in stall 7. The three year old filly wears cheekpieces, they give her more focus. Her mother didn’t begin her career with us but did win her first start for yard, similarly sporting headgear.
Shaqeeqa was beaten by just a head on her last start over this distance, and so is dangerous and along with Day Trader probably sets the standard, however the bar isn’t overly high to think a horse with less experience might be able to take a step forward and surpass them. Spirituoso doens’t have to improve a whole lot to match those already mentioned. The well related G’Daay would be the most obvious of the newcomers.
Belletti was bred and races for Gary and Lesley Middlebrook. She is by Belardo, and the first foal out of the Fastnet Rock mare, Intrigue, who was also trained by and won for Daniel and Claire. Belletti will be led up by Billie Portwin, and overseen by travelling manager, Shaun Johnson.
