Thoughts on Bowland Park

Bowland Park runs this evening in the 8.35 at Epsom. Jason Hart is in the irons for the one mile handicap. The pair are drawn in stall 3. This is his first start since being gelded. He looked a promising prospect last season but was too free in his races earlier this year so the decision to geld him was taken. He also drops back in trip to a mile to help him settle. The tricky track at Epsom should suit as he broke his maiden at Chepstow. The going is softer than anticipated after heavy rainfall yesterday afternoon and that is an unknown for him.

This is a class 4 race but most of the form on display has been in lower grade races and Mythical Madness who bids for a hat trick over course and distance sets the standard. Dourado stepping back up in distance may go one better following his second last time out over seven furlongs at the track and is proven softer going, albeit he tends the places more than the winning position. Newton Jack is proven on the going (soft) and has been in decent form of late, there is just a question as to whether the step up in distance is entirely in his favour.

Bowland Park is by New Bay, out of the Tobougg mare, Distinctive. He was bred by and races for Gary and Lesley Middlebrook. Bowland Park will be led up by Michael Coles, who looks after him at home.
