Thoughts on Castelo

Castelo makes her debut in the 6.45 at Windsor this evening. George Downing is aboard for the six furlong novice race. Castelo was quite green on during a recent racecourse gallop so we wouldn’t be surprised if she showed similar tendencies this evening but she should learn from the experience. She has done nothing wrong at home and should run a nice race if able to overcome the challenge of a new environment. She has a nice draw and we will learn a lot more about her tonight for her future. She has shown a bit of speed at home and hence she holds a Super Sprint entry, yet her pedigree does suggest she might stay a bit further (she is a half sister to two seven furlong two year old winners) and ehr sire was very good over seven furlongs at two and stayed a mile and a quarter as an older horse. The dam is out of a very quick mare and a half sister to European Champion Sprinter Reverence.

Satisfying sets a decent standard with her most likely dangers amongst the newcomers, Main Addition is well bred and from a yard that frequently throws up juvenile debutante winners. Kodiac is the most prolific sire of juvenile winners around and Oona and Ring Out The Bells are therefore worth keeping an eye on.
