Thoughts on Chamomile

Chamomile makes her debut at Goodwood this evening in the 8.40. Kieran O’Neill will ride in the one mile novice race. The raw scopey filly by Teofilo will learn plenty from the experience. She is a full sister to Festive Fare who was a useful horse over a mile and a mile and a quarter. Chamomile is by Teolfilo out of Al Joza who is by Dubawi. This filly should develop into a nice mile and a quarter or even mile and half filly in time.

The race looks to have a bit of quality in it, Fabulist still holds a Group One entry and has started a short priced favourite on both her runs to date. The drop back to a mile should suit her after a run over ten furlongs just looked to stretch her last time in testing conditions. With a fair amount of rain forecast she may meet those conditions again. The Queen’s Clarion, like Fabulist is by Dubawi and she made a pleasing debut when fourth and should come forward for that here. It should be noted that the form of that race has not worked out particularly well. Be More ran a solid second on seasonal appearance and should enjoy the extra furlong. Society Guest showed she was getting the hang of racing on her debut and a small step forward on that form could well be enough to win here.

Chamomile will be led up by Andy Williams. She races for Gary and Lesley Middlebrook.
