Thoughts on Chitra
Chitra runs in the 6:30 at Chester this evening. George Downing partners the filly in the seven furlong maiden. Chitra pulled muscles on her second start after showing some promise on debut over five furlongs. This extra distance should really the suit filly and the pace she was able to show over five furlongs should mean she is suited to this track requires a bit of pace to hold position on its turns. She has an ok draw and has been pretty good from the gates so far, which should be a help.
With the likely favourite Even Keel looking really in need of this extra furlong and therefore capable of showing even more this is an interesting contest as he has the worst of the draw to overcome. Axel Jacklin sets a standard of sorts but isn’t really progressing and is vulnerable to horses that are likely to progress, One to Go should looks the obvious candidate to fill that role after being pretty babyish on debut early in the race before getting the hang of things, he should appreciate the extra distance as well. Great Scot is the debutant that catches the eye as the trainer and jockey have an excellent record around their local track. Anonymous Blonde is a well bred newcomer.
