Thoughts on Chitra

Today (Thursday 8th of November), Chitra runs in the 5.45 at Chelmsford. She will be ridden by Robert Winston in the 6 furlong nursery. Chitra is looking for her fourth win of the season and has progressed nicely in the last couple of months. This represents a small step up in grade so will be a slightly tougher assignment. The biggest challenge will once again be a wide draw, hopefully her good gate speed can negate some of the impact of the draw tonight.

The step up in grade means Chitra faces slightly better horses and last time out winner Uncle Jerry looks the main danger. He showed improved form in blinkers last time, that was over seven furlongs and he has generally been a hold up performer which is not a run style that is suited by this track. Sandridge Lad won over five and has to prove he can match that form over six, that form wasn’t the strongest and he will probably have to improve a bit. There are a few handicap debutants who may present bigger dangers dropping into this company. Balata Bay put up a decent run over seven furlongs last time out and has won over six should be involved as well.
