Thoughts on Chitra

Chitra runs today (19th June) at Ripon in the 8.20. Kieran O’Neill rides the filly in the five furlong sprint. Chitra has made a great start to the season recording back to back wins. She steps up in grade here as she bids for her hat trick and her sixth career win. So far only two other horses of her generation have achieved this feat.

The drop to five furlongs proved no barrier to success last time when she won in a good time. The track wouldn’t always suit every horse, but Chitra has shown a lot of versatility and we hope will handle it well.

This looks a tight contest featuring some in form horses despite the small field. Moss Gill looks the principle danger on the form, however the softer going and the track makes him vulnerable, looking at his action. Mark’s Choice has won twice at the track and is in good form. Tenax and Good Luck Fox have a bit to find with Moss Gill. The softer going may see a revival in fortune for Good Luck Fox. Look Out Lois has to prove the drop back to five suits but is in good form.

Chitra will be led up by James Pulley and overseen by Travelling Manager Shaun Johnson.
