Thoughts on Chitra at Ffos Las
Chitra bids to follow up her recent win at Ffos Las this afternoon (Sunday 15th September) in the 1.50. Rob Winston retains the ride in the 6 furlong nursery handicap. Chitra seemed ideally suited by six furlongs last time out and the Middlebrook’s filly was very game in a messy race and showed real grit at the end. There is no reason she shouldn’t transfer that all weather form back to the turf. Having walked the course the ground is just on the easy side of good with a very fine drizzle around.
The race is probably a touch deeper than Chitra’s last one and the third and fourth re-oppose after not really getting the run of things that day. However, the obvious danger is Valentino Sunrise who won over five furlongs at this track earlier this week and sets the standard if staying the extra furlong. Nursery debutantes are always a danger at this level and both Tatsia and Halle’s Harbour are bred to be better than this grade. Tatsia dropped in trip with the addition of blinkers is particularly notable. Wolstonbury has bits and pieces of form that make him a danger here albeit he has not been consistent.
