Thoughts on Chitra at Lingfield
Chitra runs in the 2.00 at Lingfield this afternoon. Adam Kirby, who is the maestro at the track is aboard the seven time winner for the first time in the six furlong handicap. Chitra’s very best form is over five furlongs but she has won over this trip before and seem to really relish the track at Lingfield. She was very unlucky from a tricky draw last time and at this level should see out the six furlongs well enough.
A tight knit sprint handicap, with several of them not separated by much in terms of their best efforts, tactics and draw will probably play a part. Neither Little Brown Trout nor Lillikan have the best of the draw but their form in this class is solid and they both get the trip well. Newyorkstateofmind has only had one crack at six furlongs but looked as if six might well suit when second last time out just ahead of Chitra, we do feel that with a better draw we would probably have reversed positions.
Chitra is a homebred of Gary & Lesley Middlebrook’s. She will be led up today by James Pulley and overseen by Shaun Johnson who is her regular rider at home.
