Thoughts on Chitra today at Kempton Park
Chitra runs in the 7.40pm at Kempton Park this evening. Kieran Shoemark is in the irons for the 7f fillies’ handicap. She steps up in distance from her recent starts and has a good draw in stall 4. She has been placed a lot recently and this is really an experiment to see if we can find further progression by stepping up. Her pedigree suggests further should be suitable, however her stride pattern suggests otherwise, although neither is precise and the best test will be out on the track.
This looks a competitive race, Crystal Casque is proven over this distance and in this type of race and could be the most dangerous of today’s runners. Visionara has only run six times and is progressing, she needs a bit more to get competitive. Lady of Aran has shown the form over six furlongs to win this race but has yet to show quite the same level over seven. Octave takes a fair drop in grade and shouldn’t be ruled out.
Chitra is by Sea The Moon, and out of a Shamardal mare, Persian Star. She is owned and bred by Gary and Lesley Middlebrook and will be led up by James Pulley, overseen by Shaun Johnson who rides her mostly at home. She was purchased at Tattersalls Book 3 yearling sale for £10,000 and has already won five times from fifteen starts.
We have recently launched a Diskovery Partnership to race a filly in 2020, a very athletic daughter of Kodi Bear, shares start at £650 for 5%
