Thoughts on Chitra
Chitra will make her racecourse debut at Chelmsford in the 5.45 tomorrow (Thursday April 12th). She will be ridden by George Downing in the five furlong fillies novice event. Chitra is by German Derby winner Sea The Moon who was an extremely talented son of Sea the Stars. It will therefore comes as no surprise that we expect her to be showing her best over a bit further later on in the season. Her dam is an un-raced half sister to two talented two year old winners in Prompter and Penny Drops so there is some precocity and speed from the dams side of the pedigree. Tomorrow is very much a starting point to get some experience of the racecourse and is a first runner for the sire as well as being the yards first two year old runner for the year.
The race looks to be between the two that have already filled the runners up spot on their respective debuts. Harperelle’s race was a valuable fillies only event and perhaps therefore the strongest contest however Lady Prancealot looked like she would come on a lot from the experience when just getting beaten following a tardy start and enduring the worst trip around the track at Lingfield. Piccothepack has a likely pedigree and comes from a yard that has lots of two year olds and the booking of Silvestre De Sousa catches the eye.
