Thoughts on Ciara Pearl
Ciara Pearl is kicking off her 2024 season in the 5.00pm at Lingfield on Monday 8th April. Jim Crowley takes the ride in the 1 mile 2 furlong fillies’ handicap.
Ciara Pearl made a promising start to her career as a three year old. She was a novice winner at this track and a close runner up on her other two starts. Her family generally improve as they get older. Her half sister Zulu Girl won three races as a four year old for us. Developing from a 60 rated maiden to landing the valuable Brighton Challenge Mile after joining us. Ciara Pearl’s run style last yer suggested she would find further improvement for stepping up to the ten furlongs. Being drawn out in stall eleven is less than ideal.
Quite a few of these are returning off their winter breaks and being fillies and mares, its always tricky to know who is in the best of form. Belleplaine made an encouraging start for new connections and is lightly enough raced to suggest there’s more to come. Meleri won a stronger race when last seen in October and on a collateral form at least should come out ahead of some those with more recent form. Maiden So Farhh So Good showed the requisite ability to win a race of this nature over this trip for previous connections but didn’t progress. If new connections and the break have her back to her best she’s another danger.
Ciara Pearl runs in the colours of owner Andrew Stonehill and will be led up today by Arla-Jade Cheshire who rides and cares for her daily at home.
